A keg, an IBC tote, a scaffold frame and an oxygen cylinder are the same primitive: an owned object that goes out, earns while it is there, and has to come back.
It learns your words

Shipping a cylinder past its hydrostatic test date is a regulatory violation with real liability, not a housekeeping note.
Scanified holds the date on the unit and warns before it lapses, so you see it coming instead of finding out at the gate.
Every scan is keyed on the order, the barcode and the direction. A driver who force-quits an app that looked stuck cannot double-charge anyone.
They land together or not at all. A half-imported fleet is worse than no fleet, because you cannot tell which half is real.
Isolation is a Postgres policy, not a WHERE clause someone has to remember. The app connects as a role that is not permitted to bypass it.

Nobody can explain the invoice
A dispute takes a week because the answer lives in three systems and one driver’s memory. By the time you find it, the customer has stopped paying the line — and started assuming every other line is wrong too.
The float is a guess
You know what you bought and roughly what came back. The gap is the business — and it is the number your accountant asks for every year.

Forty thousand units in a competitor’s system, an Access database, or a spreadsheet with merged cells and a column called “Notes2”.
The same customer, twice
One company under two account numbers has two balances, and neither of them is right. The first real customer list loaded into Scanified had sixty-one such pairs in under two thousand rows — found before a single one was written.
A driver in a yard with cold hands is never blocked by a validation rule. Scanified accepts every scan and flags what disagrees with the paperwork.

The ledger is the posting.
The paperwork says five went out. Four were scanned. Scanified bills the fifth and marks it a placeholder — the customer has it either way, and someone has to go find out which one.
Paperwork says it came back. Nobody scanned it. It reduces what they hold, and it does not bill.
A unit came back that was never on their account. Not a billing question — an ownership one. It is flagged, not silently absorbed.
Nothing is ever edited away. A correction is a new entry that references the one it corrects, so the history a customer disputes in March is still there in November — which is the whole reason this is a ledger and not a spreadsheet with a status column.
The handheld writes to the phone first and the server second. A basement dock, a rural yard, an elevator — the queue drains when signal returns.

When the same batch arrives twice — because the app looked stuck and someone force-quit it — the second one posts zero. Every scan is keyed on the order, the barcode and the direction, so a replay is a no-op rather than a double charge.
Scanified reads your headers and the values underneath them — abbreviations, blank headers, columns of N/A, and a header that flatly disagrees with its own data.

- Does this replace our accounting system?
- No. It reconciles against it. Orders come in from QuickBooks Desktop over the Web Connector, unattended, and are checked against what was actually scanned. Rental invoices are exported in a file QuickBooks imports — Scanified owns the custody ledger, your accounting system stays the book of record.
- Is it only for gas cylinders?
- No. Seven classes ship configured — cylinders, kegs, totes, pallets, tools, units and containers — each with its own vocabulary and its own requalification or inspection interval.
- What happens when a driver has no signal?
- They keep scanning. Scans are held on the device and post when signal returns, keyed on the order and the barcode, so a delivery made in a yard with no bars is not a delivery you have to remember later.
- How do we get our existing fleet in?
- A spreadsheet. Forty thousand rows land together or not at all — a half-imported fleet is worse than no fleet, because you cannot tell which half is real.
- What happens when a scan and the paperwork disagree?
- It is put in front of a person with the difference stated in units and in dollars. Nothing is quietly corrected — that is the whole product, and it is why the exceptions have names rather than being rounded away.
